County Executive George Latimer Statement on the Passing of Peter Woods

“We are saddened by the death of 9/11 Related Illnesses Committee Co-Chair Peter Woods. Peter, a retired NYPD sergeant and commissioner of the Hartsdale Fire District, was a first responder on 9/11 and worked at Ground Zero for five months. In recent years, he was committed preserving the memory of his fellow first responders and was a truly outstanding member of the Westchester County community. We will never forget Peter and we will continue his mission to memorialize those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. We offer our deepest condolences to his wife, Sara, and their two daughters.”
